GYM IS NOW OPEN
Garlington gym offers both residents and a limited number
of external members the opportunity to exercise in an inspiring
environment, with views out over the grazing land stretching
all the way to Arnold falls and Otto’s Bluff.
The gym is for everyone, whether your fitness goals are weight
management, hitting the golf ball further, stress relief,
or simply for the enjoyment of exercise itself, Garlington
gym provides the solution.
The equipment selection has been designed to provide variety
and to cater for the full range of gym users. From the casual,
occasional gym user to the more serious user looking to improve
sports performance.
The building was designed by Urban Solutions in Johannesburg.
The exposed Deodar beams above the pool create a truly unique
setting to clock up a few laps, and the open, airy gym space
provides a relaxed alternative to cluttered, commercial gyms.

Nicky
completed her honours degree in Sport Science, High Performance
at Stellenbosch University in 2007 and gained certification
though the NSCA as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist
in the same year. She has worked in the health and fitness
industry since and has now moved to Garlington to start go.figure.fitness,
taking an holistic approach to health and fitness.
Nicky is also a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor. Hatha yoga
links breath with movement to create stillness of the mind.
This amazing form of exercise is the perfect complement to
conventional training regimens which so often overlook the
importance of optimal flexibility and core strength. Yoga
is also a wonderful means of stress relief, countering the
negative effects of our fast-paced lifestyles.

Chiropractor
 Mellissa
Nelson was born in Augusta Georgia, U.S.A., and studied to
be a chiropractor in Atlanta Georgia. She graduated in 1997
and worked for 2 years in America before moving to South Africa
in 1999.
Mellissa had a successful practice in Howick for 9 years
before moving it to Hilton in 2008. The technique that Mellissa
uses is not your typical “cracking” method but
instead utilises a drop table and activator to align the spine.
It is a very safe, but effective technique.
At Garlington Mellissa hopes to grow her practice and include
possibly another chiropractor, physio, massage therapist and
do some exercise classes specifically for the back. She will
also have a Bemer blanket which increases circulation, this
helps increase healing time, while decreasing pain. |
