UPDATES :

CIVIL WORKS

With over 1400 mm of rain falling last year, the project has lost 29 days to rain and almost the same amount of days as a result of consequential delays.

We are now asphalting the roads and given clear sky’s the first phase will be completed by the end of February and the balance by the end of March, this includes the developer’s portion of sewer, storm water and electricity.

One hundred and fifty orange trees have been planted in the orchard and irrigation is being installed at the moment. In an effort to keep heavy deliveries off the new roads, a second entrance and gatehouse will be used in the interim. The fencing is 80% completed and energized.

Whilst all the individual boundary pegs have been put in we are not yet in a position to allow the new home owners’ consultants onto site until the roads are tarred.

As the Project Managers, Phezulu Projects are delighted to be part of the professional team and it has been a privilege to work with the Garlington Trust and the Consultants and Contractors thus far.

ENVIRONMENTAL

With summer in full cry, the site has been transformed from a barren wasteland into a veritable green landscape as pioneer vegetation comes away.

The controversial wetland area is once again a functioning system, birdlife continues to proliferate and Common Reedbuck - along with a lone Oribi antelope – seems to have adapted to the bustle of construction activity.

Environmentally speaking, the project is on track and promises much.

Next phase, after infrastructural activity has ceased, will see landscape enhancement take over – a phase that will give Garlington the exciting countryside personality that has made it so successful with buyers.

CIVIL ENGINEERS

The consulting engineers on the project, UWP Consulting (Pty) Ltd, have been in existence for over 30 years and have built up a reputation as one of the leading consulting firms in the country.

The design team for the Garlington Project is headed up by Mike Croeser, who has successfuly completed a number of private developments in KZN and the prestigious Garlington Development is the third that he is doing together with Phezulu Projects as the Project Managers.

UWP Consulting is delighted to be involved with the Garlington Development and wishes to express its thanks to the Garlington Trust, the rest of the professional team and the Contractor who, despite the regular summer afternoon deluges, has managed to soldier on and produce work of a high standard.
