Chess is a game of Kings.
By some it has been called a form of
art. It is a game where cunning and
strategy play a large role, a game which
requires concentration and patience.
It is not always, if ever, a fast-moving
game but it is punctuated by moments
of exhilaration, moments of excitement,
anticipation, joy and success as pieces
are moved and opportunities seized.
Each move is weighted and considered,
each move forms part of a greater strategy
the goal being ultimate success.
As in any great game of chess we
here at Garlington have a clear and
definite strategy, a goal, an end
game. Like in a game of chess, for
onlookers, what we are trying to achieve
may not always be immediately clear.
I wish to assure you that we do have
a strategy, that each move we make
is calculated, considered, and is
aimed at the eventual success of this
great Estate.
This newsletter, then, will hopefully
fill you in on what moves we have
been making, the successes we have
achieved and also let you know what
you can look forward to in the near
future. But where to start...
The Coffee Shop!
This newsletter has been promising
some action in the space for a good
while now so I am glad to be able
to let you know that we have an operator
and, without wanting to give them
too much to live up to, an incredible
one at that.
Overlooking Crowe square and Garlington’s
evergreen pastures, “Nicolson’s”
will be the ideal meeting place of
homeowners & residents alike.
Famed husband & wife team, Jonty
& Tanya Nicolson, are bringing
with them the style they have become
well known for up the North Coast
of Kwazulu-Natal…that of the
“country cuisine”. |
|
With exciting decor and mind blowing
cuisine Nicolson’s looks forward
to being the spot where all homeowners,
residents, families & friends can
feel completely at home whilst sampling
some of Chef Jonty’s country fare.
May 2010 is a month that no one at Garlington
will ever forget. Please, please, please
go onto the website and have a look
at the write-ups.
Moving swiftly on... with our tummies
and taste buds satisfied we have to
consider how to deal with all the
goodness. Heaven help us should Jonty
make us all fat! The “Garlington
Health and Wellness” centre,
as they are branding themselves, are
there to take care of us. And I have
to apologise, to label them as the
fat police is being entirely unfair:
The group comprises of a fitness /
yoga guide, a dietician, a physiotherapist
and a life coach and they are so much
more than that.
They are a young, progressive, overly
qualified collection of professionals
that take a fresh approach to their
occupations and who produce results.
I wish I could dedicate more space
here to Nicky, Natasha, Kate and Jo
but my brief was a concise account
of the blows so, again, I have uploaded
all their information onto the website
– including an article entitled
“man enough for yoga”
which, I believe, deals briefly with
Tiger Woods’ libido. Don’t
ever tell me we don’t cater
for every taste. |

The dark ages at Garlington are about
to be over. We are proud to announce
that the Triple Play team has been working
tirelessly and has the fibre optic backbone
in the ground, Telkom are on the way
with their ‘pipe’ and ATEC
are ready to take you live. Garlington
is about to boast one of the most advanced
telecommunications setups that any estate
has seen or experienced. It’s
almost too good to be true; but you
had better believe it. On the website
you can read about it, see the links,
download the forms and get yourself
a piece of the action.
If you are beginning to get tired
of my references to the website it’s
because you don’t use it! But
you should. It has everything –
if it doesn’t tell us and we’ll
put it on. www.garlignton.co.za it’s
the place to be. And it is about to
get better.
Finally news
in brief:
With a rewarding surge in
sales and rentals our apartments are
all occupied. To put yourself
on the rentals waiting list or sign
yourself up for a fantastic investment,
you guessed it, go to the website.
Hot off the press.
The high care facility is on the architect’s
drawing board. As soon as it is ready
we’ll turn the picture into
a reality. If you don’t have
an internet connection give us a call
on 082 430 8484. |
The pitch and put turf has been
christened by Dr Crowe and must, therefore,
be good enough for the rest of us.
There is no excuse for your short game
to be below par. I’m afraid you
can’t use the website for this
one chaps.
We have signed up our first
tenant for office space, which will
front onto Crowe Square.
That’s right – they haven’t
even been built yet. If you believe
in location, location, location you
had better not miss out.

The gym has gone from strength to
strength and is now most often taken
for granted by those of us living
on the estate. As is security, safety,
the scenery, views, atmosphere and
even the Nguni heard. It’s all
become normal. But that is why we
love it.
Also opening in May will be one of
Pietermaritzburg’s leading Dentists
– Dr Faure. They will be based
at the bottom of Crowe Square, opposite
the coffee shop. Above them will be
eZali beauty salon.
There is a lot happening at Garlington.
Every move that is made is done so
with the intention of creating the
best environment in which each of
us could ever imagine living. Our
end game is a success which is becoming
a reality. |
